St. Martin Parish Sheriff Detectives have made two arrests in a series of burglaries at businesses in Butte LaRose. 

An investigation followed reports of vehicle and camp burglaries on November 17, 2018, detectives said. 

As a result of the initial investigation, 22-year-old Richard Devyn Johnson of Catahoula was arrested in connection with the burglaries.

At the end of the initial investigation, a warrant was obtained for a second suspect, 24 year old Zachary Johnson of Youngsville. 

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the suspects wrecked a stolen silver Ford F-250 pick-up truck in the Butte Larose area shortly after one of the early morning burglaries and fled on foot. 

The truck had previously been reported as stolen out of Lafayette Parish, detective said.

Illegal Possession of Stolen Things-1 Count

Principal to Simple Burglary-2 Counts

Following his arrest, he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges and he remains in custody with a bond set at $5,000

Zachary Johnson was arrested Monday morning with assistance from the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office at a residence in Vermilion Parish.

He was booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center and will be extradited to the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center at a later date and booked on the following charges:

Illegal Possession of Stolen Things-1 Count

Principal to Simple Burglary-2 Counts

An investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending in both St. Martin and Lafayette Parishes.
