PATTERSON, La. (KLFY)- Two suspects were arrested after a K9 deputy alerted investigators of drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop in St. Mary Parish.
The stop occurred at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Patterson.
A deputy driving east on U.S. 90 reportedly saw a vehicle cross the median in Patterson and pulled the vehicle over.
During the investigation, the deputy called a SMPSO K9 unit to the scene to conduct an “open-air sniff“.
K9 ‘Vickie’ alerted to the presence of drugs, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Drugs, drug paraphernalia, and $36,497 in cash were subsequently located by deputies.
Sidney Bergeron, 57, and Odie Guillory, 36, were taken to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set at this time.
Bergeron, a Franklin resident, was charged with possession of schedule I (heroin) with intent to distribute, possession of schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of schedule II (hydrocodone), possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving drug proceeds and obstruction of justice.
Guillory, of Morgan City, was arrested for possession of schedule II (methamphetamine), possession of schedule I (marijuana) and obstruction of justice.
