Two men were arrested for multiple drug charges Sunday after leading state police on a high-speed chase on I-10 through Westlake and Lake Charles.

According to Louisiana State Police, a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation west of Sulphur shortly after 7 p.m. The driver, identified as Travis F. Reed, 39, of Crowley, briefly stopped, then fled the scene.

Reed led troopers through Westlake, where he sideswiped a vehicle, then got back on I-10, the release says. Troopers successfully ended the pursuit by deploying spike strips on Interstate 210, 15 minutes after the chase began. No one was injured.

Reed and a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Lionel S. Clement, 30, of Crowley, were arrested. Reed was charged with following too close, flight from an officer, manufacture/distribution of schedule I narcotics, (synthetic marijuana), attempt and conspiracy to distribute schedule I narcotics, possession of promethazine and money laundering.
