One of the biggest races in Lafayette Parish is the race for City-Parish president.
There are two candidates on the ballot; Joel Robideaux and Dee Stanley.
State Representative Joel Robideaux and Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Chief Administrative
Officer Dee Stanley are both vying for the city-parish president seat.
The new city parish president will take office in January.
Pat Carter says when he heads to the polls on Saturday, Dee Stanley will get his vote. “He’s the only guy that came on the ground and spoke with the people in the community. Nobody else is, nobody else team speak with us, nobody got to see what issues were,”
Andre Fruge said Joel Robideaux’s experience is what makes him the best candidate. “He is the expert on the issues and he will know how to prioritize and how to resolve issues,”
Several voters KLFY spoke with said it’s all about infrastructure improvements.
“The streets, there’s a lot of repairs that need to be done. I see a lot being done but there’s other streets that need to get attention,” added Jason Jagneaux
Robideaux and Stanley say they hear residence loud and clear.
“They think we could do a little bit better job with molds and Public Safety and drainage,” Robideaux inputted.
“Do a better job of building better roads, wider roads, more roads,” Adds Stanley.
Both candidates say they have a plan once elected.
“I’m going to get in there, scrub that budget and look at it as close as I can. See where we are spending the money and just start prioritizing and making sure that we are putting the money where it should be,” Robideaux told KLFY
“I have a plan with and our existing budget without raising taxes to do about $55 million dollars in our first five-year capital outlay program. Those will be improvements to major arterials and others,” Stanley commented.
