Avoyelles Parish, La. (KLFY) – A single vehicle crash killed a man from St. Landry, La. and injured another man from Bunkie, La.
According to State Police, troopers responded to the crash around 4:40 p.m., Friday which occurred on LA Hwy 115 south of Bunkie.
Police say the crash involved a GMC pickup, driven by 33 year old James A. Savage.
According to a preliminary report, the GMC was southbound on LA Hwy 115 when the vehicle experienced a major transmission failure, based on evidence at the scene which resulted in the rear tires becoming nonfunctional.
Police say Savage lost control of the vehicle and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the GMC collided with a culvert and overturned.
Savage was pronounced dead at the scene. His only passenger, 24 year old Ryan C. Bernard received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Trauma Center.
Both men were not wearing a seat belt, accoding to police and routine toxicology tests are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
