2nd UPDATE: Carencro Police say they have arrested one person in connection with a double murder at an apartment complex on Amesbury Drive late Saturday night.

At about 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call at the French Colony Apartments.  When they arrived, officers found two males suffering from gunshot wounds inside an apartment home.

20-year-old Adam Williamson of Krotz Springs and 20-year-old Dustin Wiltz of Scott have been identified as the victims.

Police took one person into custody, Jeremy Edwards of Church Point, following a vehicle pursuit when the suspect crashed his vehicle into a tree on Acorn Drive in Lafayette, Chief David Anderson said. 

Edwards was visiting friends, and for reasons unknown, entered the apartment where several people were and opened fire, Anderson said.  

Edwards then robbed another person of their vehicle, he said.  

He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with no bond on 2 counts first degree murder, 1 count armed robbery, 1 count of theft of motor vehicle, 1 count of possessionof firearm by a convicted feflon, 1 count aggravated flight and 1 count of driving under the suspension.

Anderson is asking to public to come forward if they have any information on this crime, or if you were in the area at the time of the shooting.   

UPDATE: The suspect in a shooting at a Carencro apartment complex, Saturday evening, was taken into custody after leading police on a vehicle pursuit into Lafayette.

Chief David Ancderson said the unidenifed suspect was seen leaving the scene of the crime when a police chase ensued.

Anderson said during the pursuit, the suspect crashed his vehicle on Moss Street.

He was taken into custody a short while later, Anderson said.

The victim’s of Saturday night’s shooting were taken to local hospitals, Anderson said.

ORIGINAL: Two people were shot inside a Carencrro apartment late Saturday evening.

It happened just before 9 p.m. when officers responded to an apartment home in the 300 block of Amesbury Drive.

Chief David Anderson said upon arrival, officials found two people suffering from gunshot wounds inside the apartment. 

He said a suspect has been taken into custody.
