UPDATE: Port Barre Police Chief Deon Boudreaux says the all clear has been given and students are returning to class.

PORT BARRE, La. (KLFY) – Students, faculty and staff at Port Barre High School have been evacuated due to an alleged bomb threat.

Nothing has been found as of now, but Port Barre Police, Opelousas City Marshals, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and other law enforcement are searching the campus for any signs of the threat.

Chief Deon Boudreaux tells News 10 that someone – either a student or teacher – at the school noticed a handwritten message on a bathrool wall saying “this Monday there would be a bomb at 9:00 a.m.”

The call came in to police at 7:43 a.m. and the school was evacuated.

Middle school students were placed at a Baptist church across the street, while high school students were taken to a nearby Catholic church.
