ORIGINAL STORY: A manhunt is underway for a man accused of attempted murder at a gas station on September 1 in Breaux Bridge.

When police arrived, they found a victim with three gunshot wounds, and now police believe they have identified the suspect

Jerrod Ledet, 27, is wanted by Breaux Bridge police for attempted second-degree murder after a verbal altercation led to gunfire during a gas station dispute.

Ledet is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police Chief Rollie Cantu says the two men did not know each other before the night of the shooting and it’s unclear what led to the argument, but police believe this is not Ledet’s first time using a weapon.

“We feel that he still has it and is capable of using it, because it’s obvious he used it once and we understand he also used a weapon before,” the chief said.

If you see Ledet, do not approach him. Call  the Breaux Bridge Police Department, (337) 332-2186, or St. Martin Parish Crime Stoppers.

The chief says the suspect’s girlfriend, Ashley Blackwell, was arrested on Thursday and charged with principal to first-degree murder and obstruction of justice. She was released on bond today.
