UPDATE:  The owner of a small plane that crashed Saturday morning near Orange Beach, Alabama has been identified as local personal injury attorney L. Clayton Burgess.

According to the FAA, the names of persons involved in a plane crash are never released, however they did confirm that the planes tail number was N294AB.

KLFY checked FAA records and confirmed that L. Clayton Burgess is the owner of the plane.

 Burgess made a statement about the crash on his law firm’s Facebook page:

Other FAA records show that the plane took off from the Lafayette Regional Airport at 7:44 a.m. and crashed at 9:07 a.m.

Orange Beach Police said they responded to the reported plane crash north of the Wharf and east of the Foley Beach Express.

Police say the crash site is located in a heavily wooded area approximately 500 yards east of the FBX.

On arrival, police said, they located the pilot and passengers walking in the woods and all were ok with the exception of some minor scrapes and bruises.

The pilot and passengers have not been identified but police did confirm that 5 were aboard the plane and that 4 were from Lafayette and 1 person was from St. Martinville.

Orange Beach Police will be conducting a joint investigation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
