UPDATE: Two people were arrested Wednesday after leading State Police and multiple law enforcement agencies on a pursuit that lasted 65 minutes on Interstate 10 from Lake Charles to Lafayette.
It began when 35-year-old Keith Anderson Harris of Jeanerette failed to stop for a traffic violation near Iowa, La. just after 8 a.m., police said.
Harris led Troopers through eastern Calcasieu Parish, Jefferson Davis Parish, Acadia Parish, and into Lafayette Parish where spike strips were deployed but unsuccessful, according to police, and struck two vehicles as he exited I-10 onto Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
A passenger, identified as 28-year-old Qwayland Michael of New Iberia, fled from the moving vehicle towards a nearby hotel, police said.
Michael was apprehended in the parking lot of the hotel and Harris was located in a maintenance closet within the hotel, police said.
Harris was charged with aggravated flight, resisting by flight, reckless operation (2 counts), hit and run (2 counts), passing on the shoulder, improper lane use, no driver’s license, and no seat belt.
He was processed at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center before being transported to Lake Charles and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center, police said.
Michael was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for resisting by flight and for an active warrant.
No injuries were reported and no law enforcement vehicles were damaged, police said.
ORIGINAL: A high speed chase of two suspects ended at near Ambassador and Interstate 10.
Police say the the chase started in Calcasieu Parish. The two suspects were eventually captured in Lafayette.
