Saturday evening, around 8:30 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on LA 347 near Doyle Melancon Road.
The pedestrian has been identified as 63-year-old Steven Brasseaux of Breaux Bridge.
Authorities say Brasseaux was attempting to walk across the northbound lane of LA 347. He was struck by a 2001 Toyota Tacoma.
Brasseaux sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by the St. Martin Parish Coroner’s Office.
The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Authorities say the driver voluntarily submitted to a chemical test and the results indicated he was not impaired. The crash remains under investigation.
