UPDATE: 11:10 a.m. The victim in this morning’s shooting has died, police said. The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Keaven Breaux.

ORIGINAL: Grand Coteau police along with Sunset police and the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office are on the scene of a shooting in Grand Coteau that broke out overnight. Officials tell News 10 that at least one person has been injured and transported to a local hospital this morning.

The scene remains under investigation.

KLFY has a crew en route and will provide more information as it becomes available.

UPDATE 6:41 a.m.: 

Police tell KLFY that three people entered the home on the 500 block of Bellamin Street in what they describe as an ‘attempted robbery’ of the home leading to one person being shot. Assistant chief of police, Mike Buck, tells News 10 the suspects took two vehicles from the residence. One is a 2017 black Buick and the other is a 2017 grey Dodge Charger with a heavy tint.

The condition of the victim remains unknown at this time.
