The Vermilion Parish Rabies Animal Control is over capacity and needs your help in adopting or fostering dogs and cats.

One Facebook post of the Vermilion Parish Rabies Animal Control reads “Keep our dream alive”– we are over capacity.

Debra Garrot, who is in charge of the facility and welfare for all the animals for Vermilion Parish Police Jury, says their battle to save lives is never ending.

The shelter needs at least 13-15 dogs adopted and 5-8 cats by Thursday at noon.

Garrot set a goal for 20 dogs to be adopted in 10 days from September 2-12 and in that time frame, 33 dogs were rescued, and 36 dogs entered the shelter.

“It’s extremely important not only to adopt them, but to offer to foster animals to get them out of our facility as well as even just come to walk them because they so seldom get out of their kennels only to have the kennels cleaned.” Garrot adds.

Garrot says she hopes Acadiana opens their hearts out to these animals.

There are so many dogs and cats who deserve a loving home.
