VERMILION PARISH, La. (KLFY) The decision was unanimous.

All eight members of the Vermilion Parish School Board selected Tommy Byler to lead the district at Tuesday’s board meeting.

“When it’s all said and done there has to be eight people in here and myself and thirteen hundred employees that put kids first and puts Vermilion Parish back on the map.”

Tommy Byler say’s now that he is in office and along with the help of his board members building the school system starts immediately.

“We’ve got to work together as a board plain and simple.”

When asked what is first on the agenda, Byler says to live out the mission…”Vermilion United.”

“That has to be our forefront, putting kids first in this parish. We have way too many good things and with everything that we’ve covered in the past it’s time to get the good things back to the forefront of this system.”

As the leader Byler feels change starts with him and says he wants to strengthen his relationship between board members and allow room for everyone’s input.
