UPDATE: St. Martin Parish Sheriff Detectives say a man who was shot Saturday morning during a home invasion in Cade has died from his injuries. 

Police were called to a home on the 1000 block of Vieux Jacquet Road around 4 a.m. in reference to shots fired. 

On arrival, deputies located 23-year-old Justin Primeaux inside the residence with a gunshot wound.

He was transferred to local hospital where he died late Saturday evening.

A GoFundMe has been established to assist his family with his buriel costs. 

A further investigation determined that the shooting occurred during a home invasion.

Two suspects described as short, stocky black males wearing black bandanas, are on the run, according to detectives.

ORIGINAL: Saturday morning, shortly after 4:00am, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting in the 1000 block of Vieux Jacquet Road in St. Martinville.

According to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, on arrival deputies located one male victim, age 23, inside the residence who sustained a gunshot wound.

He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The suspects are described as two short, stocky males who were both wearing black bandanas.

An investigation remains ongoing.
