UPDATE: The Lafayette Parish man who was found dead Saturday morning has been identified as Darrell Wayne Walker, 55, according to the sheriff’s office.

LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. (KLFY) – The sheriff’s office is now investigating this weekend’s death of a Lafayette Parish man as a homicide.

Deputies responded to a home around 3:50 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Mineral Road, near Broussard.

Captain John Babin said the deputies arrived to find a 55-year-old man dead inside the home.

Babin told News 10 this morning that the case has since been reclassified as a homicide and remains under investigation.
