UPDATE: Investigators with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office have identified the victim in Saturday’s murder as Willie C. Williams, 68, of Opelousas.
The suspect, Glaston Junius Alexander, 50, also of Opelousas, has been charged with first-degree murder, according to Captain Clay Higgins.
Higgins issued the following statement on Monday:
“On 14 Nov, S.L.S.O. was notified that 50 year old Glaston Junius Alexander, of Opelousas, had presented himself peacefully to authorities at the Breaux Bridge Police Department and stated that he believed he had killed his female friend, identified as 68 year old Willie C. Williams, also of Opelousas. Mr. Alexander was peaceful and remorseful.
Investigating detectives for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Ms. Williams had been killed by stabbing. She was located inside her residence on Country Ridge Rd. in Opelousas.
The suspect provided full details regarding the altercation which led to the murder of Ms. Williams. Alexander is currently held on 250,000 dollar bond in the S.L.S.O. jail.”

A homicide investigation is underway, right now, in St. Landry Parish after a man presents himself to police in the death of his girlfriend.
According to Capt. Clay Higgins with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, authorities are currently on the scene in the 300 block of Country Ridge Road in Opelousas. Higgins did not identify the suspect or the victim.
He said the suspect surrendered himself to authorities at the Breaux Bridge police department prior to the discovery of the body of the victim. Higgins said the suspect later told authorities where she could be located.
No other details are known at this time but we will continue to follow this story throughout the evening.
