The video gaming company behind such popular titles as Fortnite and Infinity Blade is not responding to numerous customer complaints.

The company now has an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Epic Games out of Cary, North Carolina, has consumer complaints within the past three years that have gone unanswered.

Some of these complaints involve consumers from Louisiana and the Acadiana area.

Fortnite, an online video game, is easily accessible. It’s downloadable and free on all gaming platforms.

According to Jeff Pearson, owner of Play N Trade, Fortnite has a 40 million player base. That’s eight times the population of Louisiana.

“That’s generally how they make money is through micro transactions,” explains Pearson. “If it’s something that anybody can download the game for free and then everything bonus you pay for and then times 40 million players. If everybody spends $1 a day, it’s 40 million a day.”

The Better Business Bureau is investigating complaints about the company, Epic Games, for not answering customer complaints.

“Fortnite is created by the company, Epic Games, which has just recently received an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau and that’s based on them not responding to complaints,” adds Chris Babin, Business Administration Manager with the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana. “Actually, over the last 12 months, they’ve received 279 customer service-centered complaints and they’ve not responded to 91% of those.”

Pearson says, “I’m not surprised that they’re getting back to everyone, but I know they do issue like blanket statements from time to time like ‘hey, everyone please be aware of x y z’ and they may not be able to get to the individual person.”

Babin says Fortnite is popular with younger gamers, but Pearson says parents may feel they’re getting scammed.

“I think from a view of a parent looking at what their kids are purchasing, I feel like the parents might feel like they’re getting scammed, but the kids are happy with the end game content that they’re receiving,” says Pearson.

The Better Business Bureau has attempted to contact Epic Games on numerous occasions, but the company has failed to respond.
