LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Dozens of friends and family of each of the four victims killed in a crash in St. Martin Parish came together as one to celebrate their lives.
Friday night, Heymann Park was packed as those who knew the victims spoke about their loved ones.
“He was my protector, he was my provider, he took care of me, he was my everything,” Tony Mitchell said.
The fatal crash happened on Highway 353 in St. Martin Parish Saturday.
Tyrone Mitchell, Lakesha Leon, Leon’s one-year-old son Kishawn, and James Pappilion were all killed from the crash.
Merline Batiste, Mitchell’s Aunt, said the past few weeks have been filled with sadness.
“We just lost my older sister on the 15th. We did her services this Saturday, and then to hear that Tyrone and them got in an accident the Saturday night, so it was kinda hard, it’s kinda rough on us.”
Leon’s sister Kersten Demouchet said she will miss Leon’s happy spirit.
“She was a happy person so she wouldn’t want no one crying, being sad. She would want us to have fun.”
A close friend of Leon promised her she would take her for a ride on her motorcycle a ride that will have to wait.
“And I told her, I promised her I’ll take you riding on the clouds next time I see you, so that’s for her. Kesh, I love you baby stay one.”
