CHANCE FOR STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS TOMORROW…An upper-level disturbance will be working across the area tomorrow morning, increasing atmospheric lift over the area. This will spawn widespread showers and storms tomorrow morning and early afternoon. Severe weather indices do not look all that impressive on paper, but like we’ve seen before, this is not always the best indicator of what a storm system will end up producing. I do think the greater risks will be for large hail and damaging winds. From my experience, these May systems can be quite hazardous in the large hail and damaging wind departments. However, one thing that may help us will be the early timing of the storms rolling through. Storms this time of year become driven more by the increasingly strong heating of the day. It appears the storms may roll through before things really get to heat up across our area. If these storms were rolling in between 3-6pm, with temperatures in the mid-upper 80s, I’d be much more concerned. We do still have to monitor though as these storm complexes can easily produce very strong winds and have been producing strong winds across Texas the past few days.

Things will be clearing up Sunday and Monday with the sunshine coming back, pushing temperatures in the mid-upper 80s both days. A wet pattern looks to begin again by the middle and latter parts of next week.
