Calcasieu Parish


UPDATE: Frasch Elementary School will remain closed for students tomorrow, April 5, due to continued clean-up from today’s water main issue. School will resume as normal on Monday, April 8. 

ORIGINAL: Public Information Officer of the Calcasieu Parish School board, Holly Holland, confirms that Frasch Elementary School will be closed today, April 4th, due to a ‘water main issue’.

Lafayette Parish 

Due to the heavy rain and thunderstorms, all Lafayette Parish Schools will close 30 minutes earlier than their regular dismissal time. Transportation for parochial schools will also run 30 minutes earlier than normal. The National Weather Service is predicting a window of calmer weather this afternoon, and the district is attempting to transport students home during this period of quieter weather activity.

Vermilion Parish

Kaplan Elementary will be closing at 12  p.m. today. Seventh Ward Elementary will close at 1 p.m. Buses will run at p.m., but parents are permitted to pick up students earlier, the superintendent said.

Indian Bayou, Gueydan High and Jesse Owens will be dismissing at 12:30 p.m. Rene Rost Middle and Kaplan High released at 12:45 p.m. Forked Island, E  Broussard will be dismissing at 1 p.m. 

Iberia Parish 

Iberia Parish public schools will be closing two hours earlier today due to power outages and flooding.
