The recent rainfall that has swept across most of Louisiana has alleviated the wildfire risk, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The current statewide burn ban is expected to end Tuesday, October 27, 2015. “We are in the process of completing the required paperwork to lift the ban,” the office said.

Communities are still asked to be cautious when starting a fire. Permits or a permission from the local fire department is still required for open burns. It is also important to keep a water source nearby to contain and control the fire.
