Starting around midnight Saturday, at least 1 person was shot and one other injured in Lafayette.
According to Corporal Bridgette Dugas, around 11:51 p.m. Saturday police responded to a shots fired call in the 800 block of St. Charles Street. On arrival, she said, one male victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound.
Dugas said the victim was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
She said the victim was uncooperative and did not confirm what happened or where the shooting occurred. She said an investigation is on-going.
Around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Dugas said police responded to a report of an armed robbery near Madison and Voorhies Streets.
Two victims, a male and a female, told police they had been robbed by 3 males, 2 of which were armed.
The female victim told police the suspects stole her purse.
The male victim reported that he only had $1 in cash that the suspects took, and then allegedly punched him in the face before fleeing the area on foot.
Then around 1:50 a.m. Dugas said shots were heard by police foot patrolling the Downtown area.
She said 23-year old Malik Charles was located and arrested for illegal carrying of a firearm.
Charles was also charged with illegal carry of a firearm at a parade demonstration because he was in close proximity to the festival grounds, Dugas said.

And then, a short while later 20-year-old Martinez Hotard was involved in an altercation in Downtown Lafayette., Dugas said.
After being detained by police, she said, he was found in possession of a concealed weapon.
Hotard was also charged with one count illegal possession of a firearm and illegal carry of a firearm at a parade demonstration, because he was in close proximity of the festival grounds.

Additionally, police responding to a traffic crash Saturday on Mudd at Moss Street said that during the course of that investigation, tjhey were flagged down by a passing vehicle when the driver advised that he had been shot while driving on Moss Street.
Dugas said the driver was found to have not been shot, but that a bullet did enter the vehicle and grazed him.
An investigation into that incident has revealed that a verbal altercation took place at a local convenience in the 2300 block of Moss Street involving the victim and an occupant in a seperate vehicle.
She said the victim would not give police any additional information, except that the suspects was inside a white 4-door Dodge pick up truck.
