Our local economy didn’t recover as quickly as predicted. We’re weary from a divisive presidential election. And as the holidays approach, many of us are still displaced from our homes after August’s historic flood.
Thanksgiving might feel a bit different this year. If you could use a free meal and a bit of community, know that there is a place set just for you at one of these local spots.
1. Athena Greek and Lebanese Food
This popular Mediterranean restaurant will host its annual customer appreciation buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

2. Bailey’s Seafood and Grill
This local staple will host its annual Thanksgiving luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
The traditional Thanksgiving meal is free for anyone in need. Transportation to and from the restaurant is available to those who need assistance, and dinner can also be delivered to homes for anybody who is unable to attend due to physical handicap.

3. St. Joseph Diner
This cafeteria will host its annual Thanksgiving lunch from 11 to 11:50 a.m. on Thanksgiving day.
The traditional Thanksgiving meal is free for anyone in need. St. Joseph Diner is a program of Catholic Services of Acadiana, which provides essential services to people experiencing poverty, hunger and homelessness in Acadiana.
