JEFF DAVIS PARISH, LA (KPLC) A Lake Charles woman was arrested Thursday after she purchased a vehicle with a check written from a closed bank account, authorities said.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office said 36 year old Christine Beatrice Pappion, of 12th Street wrote a check to a Jeff Davis Parish car dealership in the amount of $42,280 for a vehicle purchase.

The dealership learned from the bank that the account was closed prior to the check being issued.

A felony theft warrant was issued for Pappion and with the help of the Lake Charles Police Department, she was taken into custody.

LCPD officers also recovered the vehicle, a 2013 Silver Chevrolet Tahoe.

Pappion was transported back to Jeff Davis Parish and is being held without bond.
