UPDATE, 1/19: Lafayette Police have identified the decesased as Devan Dufour, 28, of Scott. According to a press release this morning, Dufour has been identified as a pedestrian, not a bicyclist.

UPDATE, 1/18: The female bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle Monday night on the Evangeline Thruway, has died.

Lafayette Police say the still unidentified victim died at local hospital shortly after 10 p.m.

The driver remained on scene and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to police.

ORIGINAL POST: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) A female cyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital after being struck by a vehicle on the Evangeline Thruway.

The incident happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of the NE Evangeline Thruway near Castille Avenue, Police Spokesperson Cpt. Bridgette Dugas said.

Dugas did not identify the victim.

She said the driver remained on scene and is being questioned.
