(Daily Advertiser)- When Heather Degeyter was feeling overwhelmed with the stress of a full-time job, being an entrepreneur and general life as a wife and mother, she turned to her own mom, of course.

She was ready to quit. “Everything,” she adds.

“She said it was too much,” Heather’s mom, Debbie Degeyter, said.

But, like a mom, she looked for a way to help and encouraged to keep going.

“I thought, ‘How are we going to fix it?'” Debbie said. “This is too much of a good thing for her (to stop).”

So she drilled down to see what specifically was “just too much.” Part of it was all the paperwork that comes with taking and filling orders upon orders of hand-made macarons out of her home.

Well, as a full-time accountant who works from home, Debbie knew she could handle that. She offered to help with that piece.

“That’s how I got sucked in,” Debbie said, half-joking. “It’s been a full-time job.”

A few months after Debbie came on board she started baking, too, helping to meet the growing number of orders they get at Bonne Vie Macarons — French for “good life.”

Now the pair work together from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. most days, and even speak in unison at times. That’s indicative of their relationship, which Heather calls “easy.”

“We’ve always gotten along,” she said. “We’re the same personality.”

They’ll be together on Mother’s Day, but not just for family time. They’ll be wrapping up orders.

Every holiday they allow order pickups up until 9 a.m., dedicating the rest of the day to family time and celebrating.
