The Fire Chief in Youngsville, La. lost his home Monday in a fire that occurred around 3:00 a.m., Youngsville Fire Captain Austin Shotwell said.
Chief Blair Rivette and Celeste Richard who live at the home with Celeste’s’ two children, Peyton and Alex were asleep when the blaze began, Shotwell said.
“The daughter woke up for a glass of water, discovered smoke and alerted the family,” he said. “Everyone was able to escape.”
The home was a total loss.
A cause for the fire hasn’t been determined.
A Facebook post from the Youngsville Fire Department said Rivette has been in the fire service business for 29 years and when not at the Youngsvile Fire Department he is on shift at the Chitimacha Fire Department.
Celeste is also a dedicated member of the Youngsville Fire Department in the Fire Corps, the message stated.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family: www.gofundme.com/Rivettefamilyfire
“While they are uninjured they have lost everything inside the house, the family’s GoFundMe page says. “Thankfully those items can be replaced.”
Any donations provided will go directly to Chief Rivette and his family to help ease the burden, the post stated.
“Chief Blair Rivette is someone who would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need. And usually its him on the other side of the hose in full gear to save your house, or to help your family member who is having a medical issue. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers,” the post stated.
Fire Captain Austin Shotwell said a cause for the fire hasn’t been determined.
