YOUNGSVILLE, La. (The Advertiser)- Beginning in 2019, the Youngsville Fire Department will stop providing emergency services in unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish.
The cessation of services is due to budget cuts and a change in payment for services by the Lafayette Consolidated Government, according to a statement from the fire department.
The services that will be affected include medical incidents, vehicle accidents, trash fires, gas leaks, investigations unrelated to structure fires, hazardous materials incidents, garbage bin fires, vehicle fires and other incidents not structural in nature.
The fire department will continue responding to structure fires and structural fire alarms in unincorporated areas until LCG funding ceases, the release says.
