BROUSSARD, La. (KLFY) A Youngsville woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a pick-up truck as she attempted to cross Highway 90 Saturday night, according to Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou.

Police say Rebekah Vicknair was trying to cross the roadway in the 4100 block of US 90 east just after 8 p.m. when she was struck.

The driver of that truck has been identified as Jonathan Slaughter of Lafayette.

Police say Slaughter told them that he did not see the victim until moments before the crash because she was dressed in dark clothing.

According to Decou, alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash and that the driver was not issued a citation.

Vicknair was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and is currently listed in serious condition.
