LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY)— A Sulphur woman has been arrested for indecent behavior and stalking her 15-year-old student, authorities say.

According to a spokesperson with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a complaint which said Angel F. Owens, 45, of Sulphur, was stalking and having inappropriate contact with one of her students at a local driving school.

Deputies said Owens gave the 15-year-old girl an iPhone so they could communicate, told the victim to keep the phone hidden from her parents and threatened to “make the victim’s family disappear” if she did not take the phone.

According to a news release, Owens also gave the victim a charm bracelet with “love mamma” engraved on the charm and when the victim called Owens by her real name instead of “mamma” she became extremely irate.

Investigators told KLFY, between the months of February and July of this year, there were approximately 12,200 text messages and 650 phone calls between Owens and the 15-year-old girl. Some of the messaged included inappropriate sexual language, as well as multiple texts implying Owens had been driving by the girl’s home and stalking her.

Detectives told News 10 that when the victim tried to get Owens to leave her alone but Owens threatened to kill herself.

On July 29, authorities said they interviewed Owens and she stated she was obsessed with the 15-year-old and confirmed she had been stalking the teen.

Angel F. Owens was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile and stalking. Her bond was set at $140,000 along with a no release order until a criminal stay away had been put in place.
