MONROE, LA (WAFB) – KNOE-TV in Monroe reported Monday that the district attorney there has dropped the charges against two Alabama football players arrested in May.

The station stated District Attorney Jerry Jones confirmed drug and gun charges against Cam Robinson and Laurence ‘Hootie’ Jones have been dropped.

According to the report, Jones cited insufficient evidence in proving who was in possession of the gun and the drugs.

Robinson and Jones were both charged with possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen gun when officers happened upon a parked vehicle at a closed park.

Reports indicate the officer stated he noticed the strong smell of marijuana coming from the car. Police added Jones had a handgun in his lap. Reports also stated a bag of marijuana and stolen handgun were found in the car.
