SHREVEPORT, La. (Daily Advertiser) — Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards has been released from a Shreveport hospital and returned to his home near Baton Rouge after a weekend of non-COVID-related tests.
“All is well,” family spokesman Leo Honeycutt said.
Edwards, 93, was hospitalized Saturday in Ochsner LSU Health Medical Center.
The tests were related to respiratory and heart issues. He was hospitalized November in in Baton Rouge, where he was treated for pneumonia.
“EWE just got back,” Honeycutt said. “No coronavirus, no pneumonia, nothing. Happy New Year!”
LSU Health Sciences Chancellor told USA Today Sunday the former governor was “doing very well. He was slightly dehydrated but much improved.”
Edwards is Louisiana’s only four-term governor. He was transported to and from the hospital in energy titan James Davison’s jet. Davison, who lives in Choudrant, and Edwards are long-time friends.
