HOUSTON (KTRK) – It’s a gift from the heart, after an unthinkable tragedy.
A Houston-area company is donating custom caskets, for three officers who were killed in Baton Rouge by a man targeting police.
Baton Rouge Police Corporal Montrell Jackson, Officer Matthew Gerald and Deputy Brad Garafola Sr. of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office were gunned down last Sunday by a man targeting police.
Trey Ganem spent hours researching each fallen officer, speaking to each family in designing their loved ones’ casket.
These are the finished designs. Today the caskets will be escorted from Texas to Baton Rouge.
“This is just heartbreaking that this happened but we want to try and help the families. It’s a lot of responsibility and it has to be passionate and it has to be perfect,” Trey Ganem told CNN affiliate KTRK
He wanted to design and give away the caskets as a way of thanking the officers for their service.
Visitations and funeral services for the three officers will begin today through Monday.
