NEW ORLEANS (WWLTV) — Interstate 10 was closed briefly after a man was shot in eastern New Orleans.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, around 12:30 p.m., the victim, a 24-year-old man, was shot on a westbound lane of the highway near the Chef Menteur Highway exit.

Police said the victim as shot from a passing vehicle and taken to the hospital. The victim was not in a vehicle when he was shot.

The highway was closed for about 20 minutes and then reopened to traffic.
