BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) – Fire investigators believe a blaze that destroyed nearly half of a home Wednesday night was the result of arson.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Elm Grove Garden Drive around 9:15 p.m.

Curt Monte with BRFD said heavy smoke was billowing from the home when firefighters arrived on the scene.

He added no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

A family of three lives in the home.
