(The Advertiser)- Louisiana Treasurer John Schroder said the state is headed for financial disaster as budget hearings began in Baton Rouge Monday in advance of the start of next week’s Legislative Session.

The Republican criticized Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards, accusing him of growing government on a faster pace than private incomes.

“We are on a path to disaster and I don’t care how much the governor runs around Louisiana and tells you how great things are,” Schroder said while speaking to the state’s largest Republican Women’s Club in Ouachita Parish and in an interview with USA Today Network.

Budget hearings are under way in Baton Rouge even though there’s no set road map for the amount of revenue the state will have to spend.
