LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – After 12 years as LSU’s head coach and a 2-2 start to the 2016 season, Les Miles was fired Sunday afternoon.

“It’s going to be real hard for them to be competitive this year,” said resident James Pickette, “And who are they going to get to replace him that’s better, you know? He’s a pretty good coach.”

Saturday night LSU lost 18-13 at Auburn when referees overruled what appeared to be a game-winning touchdown.

The next day Les Miles was fired.

“One second to go, they run out of time,” said Harlow Ludlow, “If they would have got that play off, cause they did score the touchdown, he’d still have his job today.”

Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron was fired as well.

While Defensive Line coach Ed Orgeron was promoted to Interim coach.

“It might be a blessing in disguise because Ed Orgeron did very well at USC as an interim coach so maybe the change will be good,” said Ludlow, “Because they definitely have the talent.”

“Ed Orgeron comes in for a new coach, he was at Ole Miss and then he was the interim head coach for USC and then he comes in right now I mean he did great for both of those teams so if he does great for us it’ll be okay,” said resident Avery Mestoier.

Some fans say Miles was on the chopping block last year after LSU lost to Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss.

“They’ve been talking about it since the end of last season,” said Pickette, “So yeah, I think it’s been something that’s coming I guess.”

“That’s something that should have finished last year.” said Mestoier, “If it finished last year, we’d be good starting our season now with a new coach.”

Miles leaves LSU with a 114-34 record.
