BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) – A 24-year-old Baton Rouge man is behind bars on Thursday morning facing multiple counts relating to an incident that allegedly occurred on LSU’s campus on Lundi Gras.
The Louisiana State University Police Department conducted an investigation which led to the arrest and booking of Jarrell Demarquis Rogers.
LSU Police were told that a rape happened on campus three days ago and subsequently spoke with the victim at a local hospital.
According to the affidavit, the victim stated that “she went to New Orleans to attend Mardi Gras parades with an acquaintance, Jarrell Rogers.”
Rogers’ girlfriend and cousin accompanied the victim to New Orleans.
Everyone returned from New Orleans in the early morning hours of March 4.
The affidavit stated that after returning to campus, “Rogers drove the victim back to her dorm at LSU in his vehicle, described as a white Ford Mustang.”
According to the affidavit, “Rogers parked his vehicle between Pentagon and Broussard Hall” and locked the doors.
The victim stated she was then raped despite trying to push him off.
After the alleged incident, the victim said she was dropped off around 4 a.m.
The affidavit stated that Rogers proceeded to text the victim multiple times.
According to the affidavit, the victim “advised that they initially met via a phone app “tinder” and he later sold her narcotics.”
Rogers is facing these charges:
- Second Degree Rape
- False Imprisonment
- Improper Telephone Communication
Rogers was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on March 6.
