ALEXANDRIA, La. (The Advertiser) – A Pineville Police Department officer who said he was shot Sunday night during an ambush actually shot himself, according to the department.

Officer John Michael Goulart Jr., 25, has been booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on one count of criminal mischief and one count of malfeasance in office.

Goulart was booked at 4:48 p.m. He was released on a $10,500 bond.
