GARYVILLE, La. (AP) – Louisiana state police say four men rescued a woman from a burning car that was rear-ended by a man accused of speeding and driving while impaired.
Police spokeswoman Trooper Melissa Matey tells NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune that the 41-year-old woman from Prairieville was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries sustained in the Monday morning wreck in Garyville.
Police say the woman was sitting at a red light when 22-year-old Richard Preston II crashed into her car, causing the vehicles to catch fire. Cellphone video of the fire shows the four men pulling the woman of out a driver side window. Matey says at least one man was injured during the rescue.
Preston has been arrested on charges including DWI. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
