BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A trial date has been set for a Louisiana man accused of orchestrating the slaying of his ex-wife.

The Advocate reports 67-year-old Hamid Ghassemi is set to stand trial on March 16 on a charge of first-degree murder in the 2015 slaying of Taherah Ghassemi. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

He’s accused of paying $10,000 to kill his wife, to whom he paid a $1 million divorce settlement.

Two others have pleaded guilty in the plot. Daniel Humberto Richter said he helped kidnap, kill and bury the 54-year-old woman. Tyler Lee Ashpaugh said he shot her in the head, but she was already dead by then.

Another man, Skyler Williams, was 17 years old at the time of the slaying and is charged with first-degree murder.
