Upcoming Volunteer Orientation Saturday, July 27th

July 22, 2019 (Lafayette, LA) – There is still time to sign up forHospice of Acadiana’s first-ever Saturday volunteer orientation on Saturday, July 27th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2600 Johnston St, Lafayette, LA 70503.  This opportunity is open to the public and registration is required.

The orientation will train members of the community who are interested in providing patient companionship and indirect patient support for those nearing end-of-life.

“To say volunteers play an integral part in the Hospice of Acadiana ministry would be a massive understatement,” explains Karl Broussard, CEO of Hospice of Acadiana. “The volunteers’ decision to serve others, to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, is what makes this hospice organization unique.”

The session will be led by Hospice of Acadiana’s Chief Operating Officer, Michael LeJeune, to ensure a depth and breadth of training. Participants will learn about the organization, how Hospice of Acadiana serves terminal patients, and the different roles the volunteer plays within the organization. Patient care will be the focus of the session, but all of the volunteer opportunities will be discussed.

“Orientations have typically been held on weekdays. By hosting this training on a Saturday, we are hoping to give everyone an opportunity to give back” said Fawn Hernandez, Director of Volunteer Services. Hernandez explains, “There are two additional orientations scheduled for 2019, one in September and one in November, for those that want to get involved but aren’t available on July 27th.”For information or to register for the orientation please contact Fawn Hernandez, Director of Volunteer Services, at 337-232-1234 or FHernandez@hospiceacadiana.com
