Izzo’s Illegal Burrito has filed a lawsuit for more than $10 million against Rouses Supermarket, alleging that the grocery store chain pressured developers to keep the restaurant out of future developments.

The lawsuit was filed in the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge Parish, according to Business Report. The suit alleges that planners for three developments — all of which have Rouses locations — were “pressured, coerced, and induced by the Rouse Group to systematically target Izzo’s and its partners for discrimination and exclusion with the intent to economically damage and destroy Izzo’s and its partners.”

The suit alleges that the exclusion was a retaliation for an incident in 2012 where a former Izzo’s manager, who was reportedly fired from his position and brought an Izzo’s recipe book with him to his new job at a burrito bar at a Rouses located in Lafayette. Izzo’s won a court order to retrieve the recipe book after it filed a lawsuit against Rouses alleging that it had stolen its recipes.

Izzo’s has two locations in Lafayette. Rouses has two locations in Lafayette, and a third location in Youngsville.
