Ray told the radio show that following her wedding ceremony, she received a call from her family saying that her father and grandparents has been involved in a crash on the way to the reception.
She left the church immediately with her husband Paul, who is also a paramedic, and headed to the scene to check on her family.
ClarksvilleNow reported that the car was totaled and her family members sustained minor injuries.
“Everyone was ok. Everybody is still hurting and sore but no major injuries, thankfully,” Ray said.
It was her mother, Marcy Martin, who snapped the photo of Ray in her wedding dress at the scene.
But Ray stressed during the radio show interview that it was something she would have done for her family, regardless of her profession.
“It wasn’t a heroic thing to do. I was there checking on my family. It just happens to be that I am a paramedic, that I was in my wedding dress and that she got that picture,” she said.ClarksvilleNow contributed to this report.
