Six community leaders were honored in Jeanerette for their contributions to the town.
As part of an annual Black History month celebrations, Dr. James and Exora Proctor hosted the 2015 influential pacesetter awards. Those honored included members of the First Church of God in Christ in Jeanerette as well as the first black employee of one of the town’s banks. While the event was held to honor those who made significant contributions, the main purpose was to show children in the community what leadership looks like.
