Henderson is acquiring a major piece of land which could bring a lot more tourism to the town.
Mayor Sherbin Collette says they are now incorporating the Cajun Palms and Crawfish Town area of St. Martin Parish and that this is a big step forward for the town. “I got a positive report on all of them. Nobody is negative about it. They know what I’m doing is going to help them and the value of the property is going to go up.” Collette is referring to the 54 land owners in the area. He says he filed the final paperwork just last Friday.
Cajun Palms Owner, Lee Venable, says this is a move that will benefit everyone involved. “They’re planning on doing things structure wise that’s going to help us and hopefully will bring tourism and tax dollars to our area and the town of Henderson.”
Cajun Palms brings in thousands of people from all over the globe each year which will create a big tourism boost for Henderson. Collette is already working on an improvement project.
He says a sewer line is needed in the area. “I’m going to recommend to the council to give me the authority to talk to an engineering firm and actually start the planning on it.”
Collette says he expects this new acquisition to bring in even more businesses.”This area right here which is a large, large area. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a lot of it commercial. There’s a bunch of land that’s adjacent to the Interstate 10 and businesses build near the interstate and that’s free advertisement.”
Mayor Collette says he’s looking forward to the future of Henderson.
