A mother and daughter were identified as the two victims killed in a two vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Tangipahoa Parish.

72 year old Rita Adams and her mother, 97 year old Myrtis Jones, both of Hammond, died in the collision, on LA 1064 at Rufus Bankston Road.

An initial investigation by State Police has revealed that Adams was driving north on Rufus Bankston Road and stopped at the stop sign at LA 1064.

Police say she began to turn west on LA 1064 and was struck on the driver’s side by a  car driven by 30 year old William Holton of Hammond which was traveling east on LA 1064.

Adams and Jones, the front seat passenger, were transported to North Oaks Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police say Holton and front seat passenger, 31 year old Kayla Olah of Hammond both suffered minor injuries.

All occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.  Impairment and speed are not considered factors of the crash.  Toxicology tests are pending at this time.  The crash remains under investigation.
