A baby in a scuffed up car seat was found on the side of a road in Anne Arundel, Maryland late Saturday.

The baby was treated for dehydration at a hospital and is in good condition, according to police. She is in the care of the Department of Social Services.

Police say the girl is two or three months old, and the scuff marks found on the carrier lead them to believe that the carrier may have fell off a moving vehicle.

After police posted a photo of the baby on social media, a woman claiming to be the mother of the infant came forward and is now talking with investigators.

It is unknown if charges will be filed.
