Lafayette boxing legend Beau Williford was laid to rest Saturday at First Baptist Church.

Mabon Leslie “Beau” Williford Jr.,  passed away Wednesday, July 31, at his home.

In his career, he won several boxing championships, both nationally and internationally and worked with other world champions like Muhammed Ali, and mentored dozens of professionals and amateurs.

Williford lived in the Lafayette since 1979.
